Energy – Supply – Preservation
The basic expressions of life such as growth, metabolism, movement, reaction to environmental stimuli and reproduction are not possible without food intake.
The required energy and necessary molecular building blocks are provided to our body. And yet nutrition is so much more.
Lifestyle – Community – Health
A well-prepared meal with valuable regional ingredients, an enjoyable intake of food in an appropriate time and atmosphere are an expression of mindfulness and self-care.These needs are expressed in social movements such as the so-called “slow food” movement.
Food promotes or leads to bonds. Invitations in a private or business setting are usually associated with the offer of a “small snack” or the “feast” is even the main reason for an invitation. By preparing a meal, we can express affection and care for our fellow human beings. We care for and feed the sick. We associate getting well and healing with eating. Preparing a meal gives structure to the day, for both the sick and the healthy.
But can nutrition also make us ill? Can illnesses be cured with the right diet? Is nutrition possibly a kind of medicine or drug?
Our philosophy
The Greek physician Hippocrates (460-370 BC) coined the term “diaitas”, describing not only a particular form of nutrition but also a balanced combination of strengthening lifestyle factors such as a moderate diet, a harmonious relationship between exercise and rest and control of the mind. This definition is the closest we can get to the meaning of nutrition in the area of tension between health and illness.
What we offer
We want to address the complex topic of nutrition with you during your consultation. What health-promoting and preventive effects should be considered? Is there a “cancer diet”? How can weight loss be prevented or counteracted in the event of illness or as part of treatment? How can the right diet maintain quality of life and enjoyment when eating?
